Thank you for a wonderful year! Have a great summer!

To my students and their families,

Thank you for another great year at OLMC! I hope you had as much fun as I did in Spanish and Computers. I am so pleased with all that you accomplished this year. Congratulations to the Class of 2010. I will miss you, but I am so proud of you! I was thrilled to learn that many of you placed in Spanish honors classes for high school! Keep up the good work!

Here is some helpful information for all my classes:

Summer Enrichment: If you are looking for summer enrichment opportunities consider signing up for a free Summer Learning Plan offered by Internet4Classrooms.  The program will send links to learning games and other activities that will help students maintain and/or review skills over the summer. You can choose the appropriate grade level, from Pre-K through 12. The link to the site is:  http://www.internet4classrooms.com/k12links.htm

All Classes: If you would like to access the websites we use in either Spanish or computer class, go to www.ikeepbookmarks.com/nvarettoni. You do not need a password.

Spanish Classes: Visit www.quia.com/profiles/nvarettoni to review  vocabulary and access activities we've done in class. You don't need a user name or password. Just click on an activity or folder.

Computer programming: If you would like to download a free copy of "Scratch" go to: www.mit.edu.scratch. For links to download Logo, click on my Logo folder at ikeepbookmarks.

Supply List for September 2010

Grades 1 through Grade 3: These supplies are for both Computer and Spanish.

  • 1 folder with pockets -- one side for computers, the other for Spanish
  • Index cards -- cards with the spiral binding (either 3x5 or 4x6) are preferred, but if you can't find them, regular cards will do. Please purchase several sets.
  • Headsets for the computer. Single plug, headband style. Please send them to school in a sandwich or quart-size zipper bag  Both the headset and the bag must be labeled with your child's name and grade. The smaller the better as far as headsets are concerned. Students find the larger, more complicated sets uncomfortable.

Grades 4 through 8: Same as above, and the following items:

  • Notebook for classwork and other assignments
  • Spanish/English--English/Spanish dictionary.

May everyone in the OLMC family be blessed with a happy, safe and healthy summer!

Love,

Mrs. V.
