PreK 4 Update PreK is marching into Spring We are well on our way – growing and learning. In Reading, we know many words. Our word wall is filling up quickly. Our alphabet is almost complete and our Super Power Vowels – A, E, I, O, U – are making Work Families lots of fun. Our numbers are growing as quickly as we are. We know 1 to 20 and we can count to 100. We’re working on printing our last names; our first names look GREAT!! We talked about almost every state in the United States. In Science, we know so many facts about animals- what they eat, where they live, when they sleep and how they defend themselves. We all have different favorites. Our January lesson was FUN and TASTY – Raspberry Jam was our favorite. Our Easter celebration included our Easter Parade and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. We counted jelly beans and even made a jelly bean cake for our family. In Religion, we learned that God is always with us and because of Jesus, Heaven will be our reward. We learned that we are children of God and very special. We also learned that God created our world, which we must care for, because it, too, is special. We’re busy preparing for Graduation – June 10th at Noon. All are welcome. Please arrange your schedules, if possible, so that you can attend. June 10th is our last day of school for PreK 4. We will be sending home parts of our program which the children will have to memorize. Please help them with their lines. We are so excited about Graduation, but also sad because the year has gone by so quickly. Your children have brought us much joy. Thank you for entrusting them to our care. F.Y.I. – We welcomed a new student to the PreK 4 family. His name is DYLAN NAZARIO and we are happy to have him with us. HEADS UP ! ! Welcome to PreK 4. We are looking forward to a DIN-O-MITE Year. HEADS UP ! ! ! Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrations are behind us but the happiness and laughter they created will remain within our hearts forever. Family and friends made the festivities very special and we truly are a community working and sharing together. As we prepare for the birth of Jesus, let us take time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Sometimes we get caught up in all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. After all, don’t we all believe in Santa Claus? Perhaps a simple poem can be shared: J is for Jesus E is for everlasting love S is for sharing the spirit of the holiday season U is for using our talents to help others S is for the season, snow, shoveling and showing others that Jesus is the reason for Christmas Transformations are underway in PreK 4 – our room has been converted into Santa’s Workshop. Our Christmas decorations were made with so much love and we are all so proud of them. Cinnamon, Gingerbread tree ornaments, sparkling angels and reindeer with the most amazing antlers are our favorite Christmas decorations. It’s been so much FUN! We are working on our words through our Good Morning message: I, CAN, SEE, IT, IS, CLOUDY, RAINY, SUNNY? Today is (day of the week) We will work on letter ___ and number ___ We’re really smart!! Our Christmas Number Books are underway. We’re all trying our very best. Writing our numbers is tricky. We have a little poem that goes with each number as we write them. Please keep practicing writing first names and numbers at home. We all learn at different paces so don’t get upset if your child is having a little trouble. Letter recognition and their sounds are improving each day. We’re all enjoying our rhyming. It’s easy. Continue to practice at home. We’ve learned about Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee for letters L and T. Texas is a really big state. We’re looking forward to some important dates: December 10th Christmas Concert (6:45 PM at Glass Doors – PJ’s & Santa hat) December 18th Christmas Sing-along (9 AM – classroom – all are welcome – class moms will contact you) December 23rd Christmas Lunch with PreK children given by Mrs. T & Mrs. M You may take your child home at intermission from Concert and after our Sing-along.
Our year will begin by learning about each other and loving each other. Let us all walk as Jesus did . . . have a kind heart, use warm and gentle words and be aware of others around us. As we begin our work, we will discuss colors (our Color Monster Books are colors with rhymes); when we complete our booklets, they will go home to share. We will continue with shapes, numbers and begin letters and sight words. Our first letter will be Mm; however, we have lots to discuss before we start Mm. Review the alphabet at home, sing the ABC song, (L,M,N,O,P – go slowly for that part). Rhyme at home in silly ways (Did you ever see a bear combing his hair?) Children love this! Remember to praise all your child’s accomplishments no matter how small they may seem to you. Give lots of hugs, remember to listen and speak one time, if at all possible. Most of all, remember to thank God for each new day. Here is our classroom prayer. Share it at home when you find time. Dear God, hear your little childrenBless us in our school today Help us grow in love and kindness more like Jesus every day. Thanking you in advance. Mrs. T & Mrs. M
