The religious education program follows the guidelines provided by the Archdiocese of Newark. The textbooks used in the program are approved by the Catechetical Office in the Archdiocese of Newark. The use of a textbook ensures that the principle elements of the Catholic faith are presented in a sequential manner and at a time which is age appropriate for the students.
The catechist is provided with an outline of classes for the year according to the number of sessions on our calendar. This outline also provides the catechist with other optional material suggestions that can enhance the teaching of the lesson topic. The parents are also provided with a lesson schedule and can use it at home to reinforce the lessons taught or in case a child has missed a session to teach that lesson at home. When a student misses a religious education class it is expected that the lesson is done at home before the next scheduled class.
